Prescott is located in Yavapai County and as of the 2005 Census Bureau the population is estimated to be 40,360. Locals pronounce the town's name as "press-kit".
The towns of Prescott Valley (7 miles east), Chino Valley (16 miles north), Dewey (15 miles east), and Prescott, together make up the area known locally as "Quad-City".
The weather conditions are mild due to the altitude of 5354 ft. Because of the elevation, it's nice and cool in the summer unlike the lower southern areas of the state, and yet it doesn't have the wicked winters found at higher altitudes like Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon.
